Sewerage & Drainage:Benefits from KEIIP work
Tranche 3 - Status of Implementation Progress*
Tranche 3 will continue expanding sewerage and drainage services in selected peripheral areas of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) to at least 3,000 additional households and provide sewage treatment for at least 100,000 households covered under Kolkata Environmental Improvement Investment Program. It will construct (i) at least 43 km of additional sewer drain pipes; (ii) four pumping stations and at least 13 km of pumping mains and one existing pumping station upgraded; and (iii) three sewage treatment plants, with at least 115 million liters per day combined capacity.
(1) Out of additional 5 pumping stations, 2 constructed and 3 are under construction and 5.3 km of pumping mains laid;
(ii) 3 additional STPs having combined capacity of 108 MLD are under construction;
(iii) 14 km of additional sewer drainpipes laid so far;
(iv) 315 additional households connected to S&D network against the target of 3,000 so far.
(2) Operational capacity for urban services strengthened: (i) A solid waste management master plan prepared and approved. KEIIP to commence exercise of feasibility assessment and due diligence; (ii) KMC water supply staff trained at urban management Centre, administrative training institute, government of West Bengal on Water Loss Management, including all eligible female staff.

- The proposed STP will cater to the DWF generated from wards 125, 126, 144 and parts of ward 123, 124 and 143 under Borough XVI and 127 (Borough XIV). The population of the catchment for the design horizon (2030) is 2,57,882 and its total catchment is approximately 1444 Ha, which will serve as the command area for the proposed STP.
