Ensuring Equity Within the Organization and the Community

At KEIIP, we believe that sustainable urban development is only possible when it is inclusive, gender-sensitive, and empowering. Our gender action strategies are deeply embedded across every layer of the project—from policy and planning to execution and community outreach.

đź’Ľ Gender Equity Within the Organization

We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace where women can lead, contribute meaningfully, and grow.

âś…Gender-sensitive trainings conducted for staff on ADB gender policies, workplace equity, and project-level inclusion.
✅30.6% female participation in capacity-building activities—exceeding our 30% target.
✅Encouragement of women’s leadership in technical, managerial, and administrative roles under the project.

Building Capacity, Fostering Leadership — KEIIP’s Initiatives to Empower Women in Community Governance

🏙️ Empowering Women in the Community

Our infrastructure isn’t just built with engineering—it's built with empathy. KEIIP ensures that women and vulnerable households directly benefit from improved water supply and sanitation services.
âś…Water meters installed in women-headed households: Over 30.7% of household water meters installed in Tranche 1 were for vulnerable women-headed households (VWHHs), surpassing the target of 15%.
âś…Sewer and water connections prioritized in underserved areas with high percentages of VWHHs..
âś…Awareness campaigns conducted on health, hygiene, sanitation, and women's leadership in urban development.
âś…Grievance Redressal Systems made accessible and responsive to women and marginalized voices.

🤝Our Approach to Gender Mainstreaming

KEIIP follows a Gender Action Plan (GAP) that integrates gender-responsive actions across:
âś…Planning and design of infrastructure
âś…Community engagement and consultations
âś…Training and capacity building
âś…Monitoring and reporting of gender outcomes
We work in close alignment with the ADB’s Gender Equity Framework, ensuring that our efforts are not only measured but meaningful.

Our Vision

To build a Kolkata where infrastructure empowers women, where urban systems are inclusive, and where gender equity is the foundation of city resilience.
